Self-Ordering and Retail Kiosks

Take orders, answer product questions and promote what's on sale, even when you're short a person at the counter.

By the numbers

More customers to serve, fewer people to serve them

Restaurants and stores are running lean. In the National Restaurant Association's 2025 report, 77% of operators said recruiting and retaining staff remained a significant challenge, and 3 in 10 planned to invest in self-ordering or self-payment kiosks and tablets.2 Shoppers notice the gaps: more than half left a store empty-handed in the past three months.3

Customers are ready. In a 2024 PYMNTS study, 84% of US consumers said they prefer self-service kiosks.1 A kiosk takes the routine order or the stock lookup, so your team can focus on the customer in front of them.

Where kiosks work in retail, restaurants and branches

  • Self-ordering. Customers build and pay for their own order through your ordering software while the line moves.
  • Menu and promotion boards. Specials, featured dishes and limited-time offers in waiting areas.
  • Endless aisle and product lookup. Sizes, colours and stock that aren't on the shelf, so the sale isn't lost.
  • Point-of-purchase promotion. New arrivals and sale pricing at the moment the customer decides.
  • Loyalty sign-up. Members join or look up rewards without a staff member.
  • Mall directories. Store finders and promotions at mall entrances and food courts.
  • Dealership showrooms. Model information and promotions on the floor.
  • Bank and credit union branches. Self-service information on rates and products, so customers don't have to tie up a staff member, and promotions on screen while idle.
  • Outdoor ordering. Weather-rated kiosks for QSR patios, outdoor malls and street-front promotion.

Built for the sales floor

  • Built for 24/7 operation with commercial-grade displays, not consumer TVs.
  • High-impact steel. Duraline enclosures are built to take public traffic, bumps and bruises.
  • Mobile when you need it. Casters are available on upright Linea kiosks, and Signo runs on battery with no cables.
  • No more reprinting. Sandwich Board replaces posters you'd otherwise print and ship for every promotion.

Accessible self-service

When you replace a counter with a kiosk, every customer has to be able to use it. In Ontario, businesses must have regard to accessibility when designing, procuring or acquiring self-service kiosks, including point-of-sale devices.4 The Duraline Angled Accessibility Kiosk is designed to CSA/ASC B651.2:25, the National Standard of Canada for accessible self-service interactive devices. Read about the accessibility standards.

Frequently asked questions

Do kiosks increase order size?

Researchers at the University of Hamburg found customers spent 14% and 16% more at kiosks than at the counter, in two studies using transaction data from 20 fast-food restaurants.5 Results depend on your menu and your software.

Can customers pay at the kiosk?

Payments run through your ordering or point-of-sale software and payment terminal. The Angled Touch kiosk offers an NFC option. Tell us which payment system you use when you request info.

Can the kiosk match our brand?

Yes. The accessible kiosk can be painted in custom colours and finished with decals and wraps, and every kiosk shows your branded content on screen.

Do you have outdoor ordering kiosks?

Yes. The Duraline Outdoor range is all-weather, with 3,000-nit screens readable in direct sun and an optional touch overlay that works with gloved hands.
